Destination Rejuvenation

TMI would like to thank everyone involved for helping to make our recent Annual Convention at University College Birmingham a massive success. This year's convention was extremely well attended, with nearly 30 industry speakers highlighting the latest in Tourism Destination Management and representatives across the UK joining in person along with a number of university partners and delegates attending online.

With a packed agenda covering topics on Tourism taxes, Local Visitor Economy Partnerships, AI, sustainable transport innovations, the latest digital and marketing insights as well as destination overviews and updates, the event highlighted everything that is great about face-to-face networking!

The convention also provided the perfect platform to share best practices through peer to peer conversations and hear stories of amazing innovations and offerings across our tourism destinations.

During the event, we held a series of fantastic break out sessions, covering everything from quality assessment schemes to innovative regeneration projects, event crisis management and understanding the younger traveller. We heard about the benefits of joining tourism awards schemes, learned how to win sponsorship and explored the many opportunities around 'dark tourism.' Over the coming weeks, we will be providing a key summary from each of the topics covered.

Huge thank you to all our amazing speakers for delivering inspiring and engaging presentations and providing the latest innovations, data and trends across the sector. Presentations from the event have been shared with delegates and will be made available to members in due course. A number of our sponsors and speakers have indicated that they would be happy to be contacted in relation to some of the content, so if you would like to follow up on any of the insights from the event or if there's any further information you'd like, please contact secretary@tmi.org.uk.

Thanks to our amazing sponsors, Simpleview, T-Stats Solutions, booking.com, Touch Stay and a special mention for West Midlands Growth Company for amazing hospitality across both days, organising 2 amazing study tours to the Black Country Living Museum and Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter and enabling us to put on an engaging and informative face to face networking event. Finally a big thanks to University College Birmingham for hosting our main day convention and reinforcing that fantastic link between our academic partners and tourism destination managers.
