TMI Climate Action Plan

We're delighted to announce that the TMI Carbon Action Plan has been published and is available for members to view here.

The document sets out our clear objectives as an organisation and we will continue to review our activities to ensure they are aligned with the targets set out within the plan.

Just a reminder that the sustainability working group has developed an extensive resource library where you can find, tools, best practice, previous webinar recordings and measurement tools to support your sustainability journeys.

For example, you can read about Visit Isle of Wight's strategies in supporting local sustainable development and awareness raising amongst local stakeholders and visitors. Alongside a handful of other good practice case studies that we have collected over the past year.

To view these case studies, See here

  • A good practice stories initiative – where members have provided their good practice stories to help spotlight best practice. These can be found within the sustainability resources section of the website, where a link is also provided allowing you to submit your own story.
  • We would also encourage Members to read TMI’s internal sustainability policy and statement of intent. The TMI Secretariat and Board continue to evaluate the policy to ensure it is relevant for members and as we continue to monitor progress, we would value any feedback or thoughts that you would like to share.

See here

We have also added a number of resources to our training folder and toolkits and measurements section, with links to training opportunities for 2024 for the following:

    • Expedia and Travel Foundation – Carbon training for destinations
    • Visit England – Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Toolkit for Businesses
    • Booking.com and UNWTO – a more sustainable approach to tourism
  • Zoom discussions centred around sustainability –  We have been delighted that several zoom meetings across the year have focused on sustainable approaches and would like to remind members that recordings can be found within the sustainability resources section of the website.

We aim to continue a strong focus on sustainability for many of next year's zoom discussions, so please do let us know any thoughts around specific topics and areas of interest we can provide, whether it be for resources, webinars, talks, toolkits etc,

We would also love to celebrate your good news stories so please send any case studies that you would be happy to share with other members to;  secretary@tmi.org.uk
