A Greener Future' - Developing Sustainable and Inclusive Destinations

Spotlight on Speaker - Jo Williams - Partnership Manager, Experience Sussex

We're absolutely delighted that Jo Williams will be joining our sustainable panel and sharing a perspective from a coastal and rural destination!

Jo Williams is a highly experienced professional in the travel and tourism sector with over 30 years of experience. She has worked in various roles focusing on destination management, development, and marketing at national, regional, and local levels. Jo has a deep passion for sustainable tourism, putting this into direct practice during her time at the South Downs National Park as Sustainable Tourism Lead and with various Sustainable tourism consultancy services undertaken in Asia and Africa, including being the lead trainer for Travelife certification for Myanmar tour operators.

In a recent role, Jo successfully led Experience West Sussex Partnership for the past five years. Currently, she is engaged in setting up a new visitor economy development program for Sussex - Experience Sussex which is co-funded by East and West Sussex County Council.

Over the last twenty years, her work has been heavily influenced by her commitment to developing a more responsible tourism sector, shaped by a Responsible Tourism Management Masters and more recently, her participation in a Power of Place Regenerative Approach course offered by Really Regenerative.

The key themes of sustainability and accessibility will be the focus of this year's online TMI Hot Topic event. Supported by our headline sponsor Simpleview, we will be looking at how destinations can promote accessible tourism, be more inclusive in digital marketing and understand the key requirements for visitors with accessibility needs.
